Laine, Smith named Homecoming King, Queen

The Senior Class voted for Matt Laine and Kimmy Smith for this year's Homecoming King and Queen. The pair was announced during the Homecoming Kick-Off Pep Assembly along with the class attendants on Sept. 7.
Freshmen Parker Blain and Mackenzie Derrick, sophomores Tyler Swindle and Chelsea Gallagher, and juniors Pat Adamek and Hannah Dewitt all were voted in by their peers as the class attendants. Seniors Anthony Thommes and Ariana Petersen were named Lord and Lady, and Nick Thackston and Mallory Sinkovec were named Duke and Duchess.
Also during the pep rally, Student Council leaders introduced the Eagle mascot contest winners, senior B.J. Fuller and freshman Joe Ruskin. The two were selected after completing an application and attending an interview and try-out session.
Festivities for Homecoming 007: License to Dance continue on Saturday, Sept. 8 with the Homecoming Parade. It will begin at Palombi Middle School at 4 p.m. and then will roll through downtown Lake Villa. Next week, students will participate in spirit days and other activities during school, and are invited to attend the powder puff football games and bonfire/pep rally in the evenings.
The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 7-10 p.m. in the gym. Tickets will be sold for $12 each or two for $20 during lunch hours next week; they will not be sold at the door. Non-LCHS students must complete a guest form to attend the semi-formal event.
The football teams face the Grant Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 14 at home. The sophomore game begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
