department travels, hosts vocal group
 On
Tuesday, November 23, the Music Department at Lakes Community High School
continued to develop as it hosted a collegiate vocal ensemble and traveled
with an instrumental ensemble. The vocal department, directed by Colette
Todd, hosted The Xtention Chords from the University of Illinois. The all-male
vocal group was on a tour of several other area high schools, of which LCHS
was lucky enough to be one. The group performed a wide variety of music
for band and choir students alike. They even took some time to show the
students some of their vocal techniques in an effort to further develop
the LCHS musicians.
The instrumental
department, directed by Matthew Kastor, enjoyed the hospitality of the Lake
Villa/Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce Holiday Luncheon. The newly formed
Brass Ensemble took their show on the road, as they traveled to the Antioch
Country Club for the annual event. The group, consisting of ten members,
played traditional Christmas carols while the Chamber members enjoyed their
holiday menu. After the group was done playing, the Chamber was gracious
enough to provide lunch for the students and Mr. Kastor.
Be sure to come out
for the Holiday Festival on Thursday, December 16, at 7pm, at LCHS. This
event will feature the entire Fine Arts Department and will be a great way
to get some holiday spirit!
