More than six thousand high school students from across the country, including 10 from the LCHS newspaper staff, spent the holiday weekend in Chicago for the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association's semi-annual national convention.
Joined by their advisers and others involved in scholastic journalism, the students had the opportunity to hear from top professionals in the industry on a range of topics. The hundreds of sessions focused on ways to improve school publications - photography, design, writing and more - and how to break into the field after high school.
The first issue of the LCHS newspaper is scheduled to hit the stands on Nov. 23. |
